Colours of the Exotic

Over 40 illuminated stops in the University of Warsaw Botanic Garden — a tropical expedition in the middle of a Warsaw winter.

✦ Map

Map of the garden of lights

Explore the garden at your own pace and discover the stops in any order you like. Follow the light and let your curiosity show you the way. Keep your eyes open — just around the next corner, another magical spot may be waiting to light up your journey.

✦ Along the route

Over 40 illuminated stops

This year, over 40 illuminated stops make up the route of an exotic expedition. Here are just a few of the places you'll discover along the way.

Savannah

The light will guide you across the savannah, where a lion slips through the shadows of the trees.

Flamingo Lagoon

You'll pause by a lagoon full of flamingos.

Underwater World

You'll dive into an underwater world with dolphins.

Tropical Leaves

The paths wind among tropical leaves and animal silhouettes.

Arcades of Light

You'll walk beneath arcades of lanterns leading deep into the garden.

✦ Energy efficiency

Less power than you might think

100%

The MagicznyBotaniczny exhibition uses 100% LED technology, which considerably reduces energy consumption.

90%

LEDs use up to 90% less electricity than conventional incandescent bulbs.

The light sculptures use far less electricity than some people might think. The MagicznyBotaniczny exhibition is made up of over a million LEDs, yet thanks to high-quality lighting,
it uses only as much electricity as a lift in a four-storey building.

✦ Fun and Learning

Family trail game

At the entrance, you'll receive a Passport to the Tropics. Open it, and the paths beneath your feet will unfold into a fairytale. Every stop brings a new clue and a new question that leads you onwards: Why does a cactus have spines? Why are flamingos pink? How loud can a lion roar? Does an elephant really never forget?

Look for the answers to these and other questions between light and shadow, among tropical leaves and animal silhouettes. Collect stamps as keepsakes of your journey. A little prize awaits you at the end.
